Children’s Book Week!

So many of us have enjoyed Nancy Drew, I didn’t want to pass up this opportunity of spotlighting this famous female sleuth during Children’s Book Week. I know I gobbled up her stories! So, I did a small amount of sleuthing on my own and learned some interesting information about this young lady.

 

Fun Stuff About Nancy Drew~

~Edward Stratemeyer (The Stratemeyer Syndicate) was the creator of Nancy Drew.

~He also created The Hardy Boys in 1926.

~The first Nancy Drew Mystery appeared in 1930.

~When Edward Stratemeyer died, his daughters Edna and Harriet inherited the Stratemeyer Syndicate. Harriet loved Nancy Drew and was very involved in the success of Nancy Drew.

~Carolym Keene is actually a pen name. Several different people wrote for the Nancy Drew mysteries.

~Mildred A. Wirt Benson wrote 23 of the original 30 mysteries.

The first three mysteries are:

~ The Secret of the Old Clock

~ The Hidden Staircase

~The Bungalow Mystery

~Many of you might remember, Nancy didn’t have a mother. She had a great relationship with her father, Carson Drew, who was an attorney.

~Nancy did have a boyfriend, Ned Nickerson. He was a college student.

~Bess and George were her best friends.
