Top Ten Tuesday!

Greetings one and all! Occasionally, as I enjoy a movie, I notice a character in the story who reads! That’s right, there is a reader in the movie. So, this week, Top Ten Tuesday, is a list of readers in film. These aren’t in any particular order. 🙂

Northanger Abbey:

Who doesn’t love Catherine (Felicity Jones) in “Northanger Abbey?” She is such a lovable character. I think ~if memory serves me~ she is reading, “Udolpho.”

• Frodo • This pretty much what I'd be doing everyday if I lived in The Shire.: Frodo Baggins! (Elijah Wood) in “The Fellowship of the Ring” I don’t know what he’s reading, but I’m sure he’s enjoying it. Although, his thoughts might be on Bilbo’s party.

LIZZY(ELIZABETH BENNET)!!!!!!!! READS OFTEN LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLWhen the geek comes out/Pride and Prejudice: Elizabeth Bennett! (Kiera Knightley) “Pride and Prejudice” (2005) “She must improve her mind with extensive reading.”

Abigail Breslin in "Nim's Island": Nim! Abigail Breslin in “Nim’s Island.” YAY! “I must be the hero of my own life story” ~Alex Rover, Gerard Butler.

Lucy and the Magician's Book - this is one of my favorite scenes in the book and the movie! <3:

Lucy Pevensie (Georgie Henley).  “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.”

“She went up to the desk and laid her hand on the book; her fingers tingled when she touched it as if it were full of electricity. She tried to open it but couldn’t at first; this, however, was only because it was fastened by two leaden clasps, and when she had undone these it opened easily enough. And what a book it was!” C. S. Lewis, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Becoming Jane. "What value would there be in life, if we are not together?”:

Thomas Lefroy (James McAvoy) and Jane (Anne Hathaway) are discussing a book Jane recommended of the woods where she lives, “Natural History,” in “Becoming Jane.”

(Source: Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson: pewirrickman, via janeaustenland): Col. Brandon (Alan Rickman) is reading to Marianne Dashwood (Kate Winslet) in, “Sense and Sensibility.”

Jane Austen's 'Emma' movie images - Google Search (Emma [Romola Garai] & Mr. Knightley [Jonny Lee Miller]):

Emma Woodhouse (Romola Garai) and Mr. Knightley (Jonny Lee Miller) in “Emma” (2009). Emma doesn’t seem to be much of a reader, but she did make a list of 101 titles to read. Mr. Knightley brought her this book, which has a sketch of Box Hill.

Anne of Green Gables- getting in trouble for reading books, instead of doing arithmetic: Anne Shirley (Megan Follows), “Anne of Green Gables.” Miss Stacy (Marilyn Lightstone) caught Anne reading a novel during class time.

.A girl can sit in the country or the park or her back yard. No one can say, you are dressed wrong. Get with the trends - Unlike California Christians. It's ok to be modest!:

Miss Beatrix Potter (Rene Zellweger). “Miss Potter.” I like this movie, very much. “There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never know where they’ll take you.” ~Beatrix Potter
