Classic Movie Friday!

Maureen O'Hara and Robert Newton in "Jamaica Inn" 1939.:

~ Jamaica Inn (1939)

Maureen O’Hara

Charles Laughton

Robert Newton

After the death of her mother, Mary (Maureen O’Hara), travels to Cornwall to live with her Aunt Patience (Marie Ney) and Uncle (Leslie Banks). Upon her arrival, she discovers herself in a den of cutthroats and embroiled in the adventure of a lifetime!

This is a good movie and I understand it was Maureen O’Hara’s first movie! It’s also a Hitchcock film. Maureen O’Hara is on an adventure from the start of the film and it doesn’t quit.  As she travels to Cornwall and tells the people she meets she’s going to Jamaica Inn, their reaction to her destination leaves her puzzled. Then upon her arrival it goes from bad to worse.

Joss Merlyn/Leslie Banks, Patience Merlyn/Marie Ney and Mary Yellen/Maureen O'Hara - 'Jamaica Inn' (1939):

How many Hitchcock films have you seen? Have you seen Jamaica Inn? Did you like it?

  1. Is she the one who played on the original
Parent trap? It doesn’t look like her but
The name is familiar. We used to watch
    Alfred Hitchcock growing up because
There wasn’t much on tv back then . I’ll
Have to check out this movie
