Letter of Introduction (1938)
This was the first time I’d ever watched a movie with Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy! Mr. Bergen certainly got away with a lot, speaking through Charlie! haha
Katherine Martin (Andrea Leeds) is determined to meet John Mannering (Adolphe Menjou), a famous aging actor. She has a letter of introduction for him and refuses to reveal the contents of the letter to anyone but Mr. Mannering. Once she meets the famous Mannering, after some discussion, they agree to keep the contents of the letter a secret. So begins a nice relationship between Katherine and Mr. Mannering, however, their newfound friendship causes some problems with friends and the press.
I think all the actors and actresses in this movie were new to me.
Even though the contents of the letter remain a secret, I knew right away what was in the letter.
There was one scene in the movie when Edgar Bergen, threw his voice, so to speak. It appeared a horse was talking. It was comical, to say the least. It was a good movie, not my favorite, but good.
Have you seen “Letter of Introduction?” What did you think?
