Magical Cats #11

“Spring has sprung in Mayville Heights, and Kathleen’s brother, Ethan, has come to town with his band. But not everything goes as scheduled, when Ethan’s opening act gets into a fight with a man interested in investing in the town. When the businessman’s body is found in the hotel where he was staying, Ethan’s friend is implicated in the crime. Kathleen wants to help her brother by solving the case, but she has no shortage of suspects from which to choose. Prior to his death, the investor was fighting like cats and dogs with multiple people in town. If Kathleen wants more than a whisker’s chance of solving the case she’ll need to rely on her trusty feline sidekicks, Owen and Hercules.” ~Berkley Prime Crime

This series is new to me and there seemed to be quite a bit happening in Mayville Heights. Kathleen, the head librarian, is organizing a quilt show, while supporting her visiting brother, Ethan, and his band. There’s a good sense of community and great friends in this cozy, with quite a bit of bantering between relatives and friends. Unfortunately in the midst of all the fun, banter and great friendships someone is discovered dead in the town’s hotel. Kathleen and her two interesting cats, Hercules and Owen are on the case, investigating along with Detective Marcus. I thought A NIght’s Tail was fun and written at a good pace. I had some difficulty in the beginning of the story, the story seemed confusing and there seemed to be a lot of characters, but this was the first book I’ve read in the series. I didn’t solve this mystery. I wasn’t surprised at the identity of the killer though. 3 *** stars!

A BIG thanks to Berkley Prime Crime for the book.
