Yes, I love to travel! I’ve been to the Marianas Islands ~ Guam, Saipan and Rota and we’ve been to Hawaii. I’ve been to several states on the east coast and Martha’s Vineyard. It would probably be easier to say what states I’ve never visited. I would love to hike the Appalachian Trail sometime. What an adventure! My my my! I sound like Alex Rover!
Nim’s Island (2008)
“Be the hero of your own life story.”
I’ve never been to Europe, Africa or South America. Since CO-VID we’ve visited Lake Superior in Minnesota. I love it there. What about you? Do you enjoy traveling? Tell me about your adventures! 😃
Hello Peoples! Yesterday morning I walked downtown to a café I like. Early, I wanted to get outside in the fresh air. *haha* I dressed warm. The thermometer on our garage said, it was 30 degrees outside. I can do thirty, so I layered and wore my warmest hat and scarf. Grabbed my book and off I went. I don’t think I even walked a block when it started to snow ~ hard! It was really coming down! I was quickly covered in snow. It wasn’t the big snowflakes. It was round chunks of snow, but I kept walking. The snow stopped and the wind gusts came. Brrrr. It was wild outside, but I made it to the café. The employee who took my order heard my tale of winter walking.😁 I ordered a hot chocolate and toast. I read my book for an hour. Sent a text message to Rick. He came and picked me up, gave me a ride🚙 home. I was glad he did. The temperature dropped.
Hello Peoples! Yesterday a friend I had not seen in a very long time stopped by. She gave us some tea ~ loose leaf and tea bag. She lives out in the country and we definitely don’t get together very often. It was a nice surprise.
Yesterday afternoon I was able to go for a walk. It was 30 degrees, so it was cold, but there wasn’t any wind! Yay! I stopped at a couple of the little free libraries and looked at the books. I didn’t find anything I was interested in, but it felt great to get out in the fresh air.
I also made veggie soup. I like the way soup, simmering on the stove, scents the house. ☺🍅🥬🥔🌽
What are you reading?
I’m reading, The Escape by Lisa Harris.
Since it’s 3:15 am, I am going back to bed. I have been sleeping strange hours recently. I sleep good, just at unusual times.
Laurel Inwood, a chef, has left Hollywood and traveled to Hubbard, Ohio to help her sweet, foster Aunt Sophie run her restaurant, Sophie’s Terminal At the Tracks. The restaurant isn’t what Laurel expected, however, Aunt Sophie is having surgery, so, Laurel decides to stay and help until Aunt Sophie has recovered and is back on her feet again.
Shortly after Laurel arrives, Aunt Sophie and Laurel discover a dead body, slumped over a table in the restaurant. Jack Lancer, an investigative reporter is the victim. With Sophie soon to be in surgery and a young man wrongfully suspected, Laurel decides to do some sleuthing on her own. Of course, she does have help. Declan, a good looking lawyer, with a big family and owner of the Irish store is readily available to assist Laurel in any way he can.
Loved it! Laurel is a strong, female protagonist with an attitude and I suspect some arrogance. Declan, our equally strong male protagonist is up for the challenge. I loved the way those two bantered back and forth with one another. They were great together!!! The mystery was good ~ a little complicated. I didn’t solve it. 5 ***** stars!

Hello Peoples! Yesterday, I stayed home all day. The weather was terrible. There was a light snow all day, but the wind blew and blew and blew! Oh my! My phone said, it was around 30 degrees all day. It looked colder than that. I made soup, watched a couple of movies. I read a book and had a nap. Rick started a new jigsaw puzzle.
January is a stay at home in jammies, reading a book or watching a movie kind of month.
Hello Peoples! We are in a blizzard warning. The wind is horrible. The wind gusts are up to 60 miles per hour. Brrr. The warning is suppose to end this morning. It did snow yesterday. I’ll be staying home today, snug and warm, all rolled up like a burrito. I baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies yesterday. So good!
Oh my word! We have a black squirrel in our backyard. He is so wonderful. He is the first black squirrel I’ve ever seen. He’s as black as charcoal! I’ve seen gray squirrel and brown squirrel but never black squirrel. Have you ever seen a black squirrel???
I finished reading Under the Cajun Moon by Mindy Starns Clark. I liked it. It’s a murder mystery, a treasure hunt and so much more. The reader is transported to New Orleans. The author described the culture, the food and the great people so well. It’s also educational! 😲 Highly recommend!
Currently, I’m reading Jocelyn by Sarah Monzon. It’s a cute romantic comedy.
Hello Peoples! Yesterday was a beautiful day. I woke, dressed and walked to the bakery. I didn’t need a winter coat. I wore my new quilted vest, a scarf and mittens. I didn’t wear a hat or boots. I wore my athletic shoes. This is so unusual for January. We’re usually below zero in January. The bakery is take out only these days, so, I purchased a hot, dark chocolate and savored it on my journey home. When I arrived home and walked in the house, I was surprised to see our living room looked like a blanket, book and movie bomb exploded in said room. I laughed. I guess I didn’t notice the disaster before I walked to the bakery. We certainly enjoy our home. 😁

I have heard we have more snow coming our way. I’m not sure when it will arrive, but I say, bring it on! ⛄
What are you reading?
I’m reading, Under the Cajun Moon by Mindy Starns Clark. It’s my first library book of 2021. I like it. The story seems a little different from what I usually read. It’s set in New Orleans. And! A treasure ~ that’s right, a treasure and a poem, a murder, a chef, a woman falsely accused and a story that keeps me guessing. I’m not even sure who to trust???
Hello Peoples. I don’t feel good this morning, so this will be short.
Even though it’s the middle of winter and the middle of January, the temperature is warming up. Very strange. For the next few days it’s going to be in the 40’s! 😮 We will probably see people walking around outside in shorts!
Do you enjoy little known holidays?
