Senorita Lolita has fallen in love with the courageous Zorro, however, Don Diego wants to marry the lovely Lolita. Don Diego is a fop! He’s weak and becomes fatigued easily. Lolita doesn’t want to marry Don Diego. When Lolita and her parents are imprisoned under false charges, Zorro must come to the rescue.

A swashbuckling, fun read.

I Almost Burned the House Down ~

Hello Peoples! That’s right. I almost burned ๐Ÿกthe house down. I was making popcorn for the birds. I make it the old-fashioned way, on top of the stove. Something distracted me. I don’t know what??? I was upstairs when I smelled popcorn burning! I flew down the stairs, bolted into the kitchen and immediately shut the fire off, under the popcorn. I took the lid off the pot and smoke billowed out of the pan. I put the lid back on, opened the windows so the smoke detector wouldn’t start screaming and took the hot pot outside. I sat it on a brick and took the lid off. It smoked for a while. When it had cooled down. I brought it back in the house. It was a burnt mess, but Rick was able to clean the pan. Amazing.

Thanksgiving was great! The food was delicious. We watched the football games. It was 31 degrees here on Thanksgiving. It’s 27 degrees here right now. I have a book to read, so I’m good. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m reading Deadly Yellowstone Secrets by Kari Trumbo. I really like the cover of this book. ๐Ÿป Tamala, a naturalist, stumbles upon a poacher trying to shoot a bear in Yellowstone. Not good. Now the poacher is hunting her because she can identify him. Clint is a Ranger who is trying to protect her while he searches for the poacher. Then a blizzard hits Yellowstone and it’s a fight for their lives.

Have a great weekend. Stay warm and safe.

Hello Peoples~

How is everyone? I hope you are all well and enjoying the last days of November. My brother is a grandma made chef. He is such a good cook. He made divinity candy and sent a box to us. OH, MY WORD! Have you ever had divinity candy? I don’t know what it tastes like if you purchase it in a candy store, but my brother makes excellent divinity candy. It’s rich and sweet. It’s addictive! It’s probably loaded with calories and carbs, but oh so good.

This week I met a friend at the bakery. We had a good visit and yummy bakery treats. We hadn’t seen one another in a very long time, so it was good to get together. โ˜•

Sunday we watched football. ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ

I didn’t know what I wanted to read this week, so I decided to re-read one of the Mitford books. I’ve read them all, at least once, but they are so good. I am happy to read them again and again. So, right now I’m reading . . .

Timothy, Cynthia, Barnabas and Violet have traveled to an island off the coast of the Carolina’s to temporarily pastor a church there. The reader will meet up with old friends, meet new friends and have a great time. There is never a dull moment for Cynthia and Timothy! I highly recommend all the Mitford books.

Thanksgiving is almost here. I love Thanksgving. It’s a great holiday. Stay warm and safe. Eat stuffing and lottsa mashed potatoes. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Jungle Tales of Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs

Well! Hello Peoples! This book is Tarzan before Jane. He lives with the apes. I personally don’t like apes of any kind. I don’t like gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutangs, I don’t like any of them. However, the apes have been his only companions since he was very young. He’s proved himself to them time and again. It was necessary. Now, Tarzan is a young adult, and he is searching. He has many questions, and the apes can’t answer any of them. As he searches, he has adventures. Yes, if you like adventures, especially adventures set in the jungle then Tarzan might be the books for you.

The first book, Tarzan of the Apes is still my favorite.

If you read this book and others, the reader will meet many jungle animals. My favorite is Tantor the elephant. He is so sweet, and he helps Tarzan when he is needed. I like elephants. Numa is the lion. there’s always at least one lion in the adventure. ๐Ÿฆ And! Tarzan always seems to be captured.

Enjoy!

The Bark of Zorro by Kathleen Y’Barbo

Someone is painting the letter Z on the dogs in Brenham, Texas. How rude! Jason and Cassidy are on the case. Jason would like Cassidy to quit investigating. It’s dangerous. She is the office manager at the veterinary clinic and he’s the game warden.

This is my favorite in the series. I thought it was fun and comical at times. I found myself chuckling on and off throughout the story. I had no idea who was painting dogs, but I was more interested in why? It was a strange and puzzling mystery. There were several references to Scooby-Doo and friends which I enjoyed.

It’s the fourth book in the series. They are all fun mysteries, but none are murder mysteries. Anyone can read these mysteries.

A Fatal Lie by Charles Todd

An Inspector Ian Rutledge Mystery

A young boy goes fishing and discovers a dead body in the river. Not good. Inspector Ian Rutledge is given the case, and he believes the poor man fell from the aqueduct. There isn’t any identification and Inspector Rutledge has very little to go on. Bummer. Ian Rutledge is incredibly tenacious. Once he starts investigating, he doesn’t stop until he has the answers. This case was difficult, to say the least. I highly recommend it. I highly recommend all the books in the series.

Cat’s Paw by Roger Scarlett

Martin Greenough is a wealthy man and a bachelor. He lives in a mansion with his cat, Lucy, his friend, Mrs. Warden and his servants. His relatives visit him on occasion and enjoy his money, but don’t seem to care for him very much. He did seem pompous to me.

It’s his birthday and he invites his relatives to his home for a birthday dinner celebration. He tells them he has something important he wishes to discuss with them. There was no discussion, he just tells them. A short time later, whilst the relatives are outside enjoying the fireworks, Martin Greenough is murdered!

All the relatives are suspects and there are a few possibilities for a motive. Inspector Kane of the Boston Police Department is called in to solve the mystery. I thought it was a complicated mystery. The first section of the book was slow and boring, but once Martin was murdered it really got interesting! It was a puzzle; I didn’t try to solve.

This was the first time I’ve read a book by this author. I haven’t decided if I will read another.

Happy Reading!
