Charlie, our gossipy sleuth, has an incredible Maine Coon Cat! 🙂 I think Diesel, the cat, is the star of the book! Diesel and Charlie are well known in the community, at times if only by reputation. Diesel is a loving cat, with good instincts and well behaved. He’s trained to a leash and he goes almost everywhere with Charlie. Azalea, Charlie’s housekeeper, gives Diesel a steady stream of treats which Diesel never refuses. Diesel does have a kitty companion to annoy him, Ramses the kitten. Ramses is usually into mischief.
Charlie is widowed and a librarian. He’s a pleasant man and he loves his family. He’s a little self-conscious when he arrives at the college class he is auditing because he is a couple of decades older than the other students. I say, go for it! 🙂 Most of this mystery was gossip and questions. Charlie had so many questions swarming around in his brain, it was leaving me dizzy. At the end of the mystery, he had some pluck in him. 3 *** stars!
